New first aid requirement

As you may be aware - qualifications, as standard practice, are reviewed and updated regularly. Due to the last review of the SIA license linked qualifications being completed back in 2015, there are inevitably areas that need to be brought into line with current legislation, as well as an overall review of content to ensure that the said qualifications continue to be fit for future purpose. 

SIA licence linked qualifications

The SIA licence linked qualifications have been undergoing a recent review with the intention of updating and improving the standards as well as enabling the Security Operative (whatever role they choose to fulfil) to work safely and in a professional manner. 

What are the Key Changes?

All candidates applying to attend a licensed linked qualification in Door Supervision, CCTV and Security Officer that must produce, as a minimum a valid Level 3 Emergency First Aid certificate (1 day course), with a minimum of 12 months before the certificate expires.

When will things change?

With effect from 1st April 2020, all candidates applying to attend a licensed linked qualification that is (Door Supervision, CCTV and Security Officer) must produce, as a minimum, a valid Level 3 Emergency First Aid certificate (1 day course), with a minimum of 12 months before the certificate expires. Please note that full Level 3 First Aid Certificate, Level 4 First Person on Scene Support are also acceptable, providing they also have a minimum of 12 months before certificate expires.

Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors In the Private Security Industry 

Unit 1: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry. 

Unit 2: Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry. 

Unit 3: Application of Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry. 

Unit 4: Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry.

Minimum mandatory delivery 6 days. 

Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry 

Unit 1: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry. 

Unit 2: Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry. 

Unit 3: Application of Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry. 

Minimum mandatory delivery 4 days. 

Level 2 Award for CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) in the Private Security Industry 

Unit 1: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry

Unit 2: Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry 

Minimum mandatory delivery 3 days.
